"We're no doctors, we have no college degrees, we're not therapists but, this we do have...
A past that we wouldn't wish on anybody, a present that is next to none...
And a future full of hopes and dreams". (Tony Marossie Co-founder of Selfish Steam)

Tony Marossie grew up in Pasadena, California. By the age of 13 through his own bad decisions, he became a "Ward of the Court". His new home was a place called Eastlake Juvenile Hall in East Los Angeles. This was only the beginning for Tony. Drugs and Alcohol consumed his every thought and by the age of 16 he was drinking and using drugs on a daily basis. Dropping out of school only made things worse for Tony. He was ordered by the court to join the Military the day he turned 17 or spend time in prison. He'd spend the next 25 years in and out of Treatment Centers, Jails and Institutions chasing something that was right in front of him the whole time...it was his music.

Through the help of a 12 step program Tony cleaned up his act and picked up his guitar and started writing music about his life experiences. He started to seek out other Recovering Musicians and put together band called "Selfish Steam".. In May of 2002 Selfish Steam received a Prism Commendation Award and a Prism Certificate of Merit (sponsored by the Entertainment Industries Council and the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation) for their "Outstanding contribution accurately depicting Drug and Alcohol Addiction in a Music/Music Video Recording. Sobriety and persistence has taken these guys on an amazing journey with no end in site. Sharing the stage with Eddie Money, John Sebastion, Aztec Two-Step, Johnny Winter, Ivan Neville, Rick Derringer and many more is a direct result of "Getting Clean & Sober" and doing the next right thing.

Selfish Steam has been Dubbed by the media as "Friends in Recovery with Music that Touches the Soul". Their all original music is written from their own life experiences. Their music has its own style. Their originality and the fun they have together is truly magic.

Selfish Steam is so much more than just a band. It is truly a band of brothers, helping each other in their daily journey through life. To be able to touch people with our music and see the response in their eyes is the greatest gift we could ask for. When ever we play we say if we reach just one person then it was all worth it. The more people who can hear our music the more we can maybe help, even if it just makes them think. We claim no affiliation with any group or organization and do not represent anyone except ourselves.
