Greg Gerace - 12 Step Music Fest

Growing up in Michigan, the heartland of “old time rock n roll”, I was weaned on Led Zeppelin. Nurturing what Neil Young said then and is still true today that, “rock and roll will never die”. Just look at the Rolling Stones. My mom bought me my first guitar. A friend wrote three chords on a scrap of paper. My sister wrote a book of poems and my journey as a songwriter had begun. Though a very slow and private journey, hidden behind a veil of shyness, a contructions career, and the waste of addiction. Rehab in 85' brought a new life and a new creativity expressed in the song “Pass it On”. Finally some new direction, but still just in the background. As a result of her passing in 98', the song “Mother”, led to a deep , life altering truth. Time is worth more than money. I walked away from that lifetime career and found myself in Key West with no real intentions other than to seek and do God's Will. A friend's wife convinced me to do a gig for tips. The bartender got up and sang a few songs with me. Next thing I knew, she booked us a weekly gig and all of a sudden I had a job which part of the description is “play”. Truly a life beyond my wildest dreams, out of which the gratitude keeps me “Forever young”.
